The case you purchase will depend on how easy it will be to build.
For those that don't worry about space a large case will help keep
the computer cool.
Most cases will come with a power supply and all the cables you will need to get started.
Ensure the power supply will provide the power required by the motherboard.
Before building the system aim to work in a clean dust free envrionment
this will avoid any problems later.
Motherboard
The motherboard will usually attach to a tray that is removable from the
case, just ensure the motherboard will fit neatly on the tray and check
the hole alignment. The backing plain must also fit the ports on the
motherboard. Once happy screw the board onto the tray with the screws
and bolts that are supplied with the case.
Ensure the board will be earthed by means of electrical charge passing from
the screw points on the board, through the screw and connecting to the case.
The case will be earthed through the power supply.
CPU
The CPU will only fit into the processor socket in one orientation, it is
important to get this correct, and ensure you do not bend any of the pins.
All of the newer CPU's will require fans, ensure you use a suitable heat
paste between the top of the CPU and the base of the heat sink, this will
prolong the usage of the computer.
The CPU must be secured with the locking arm before you attach the heat
sync and fan, these must be fitted in accordance with the manufactures
guidnes as there are a number of different CPU's and fan combinations.
Memory.
Be careful with the memory as this is the most statically sensitive
device in the computer. Always ensure you are waring an
anti-static wrist band. This will reduce the risk of damage.
