A number of port numbers are specific to MacOS X because of its UNIX/BSD heritage.
QuickTime is Apple's "multimedia" product. It is primarily used for audio/video streaming (like movies on the web), but can also be used for videoconferencing.
Older version of MacTCP would allocate dynamic ports starting at 256 rather than 1025 like all other machines, so older clients will have ports in the low range.
